We've Moved!!

I have officially moved the blog onto my own domain . It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, I guess all that drama was just in my head.

Please update your links and follow us on our new site. All the posts that are here are over at the new site so feel free to go back in time and check out the old posts. This blog will be here for a while but will eventually come down. Take a look and let us know what you think here http://blog.mylasbags.com

I hope to see you all over there. I am still updating things so there may be a few changes everytime you come by.

Oh.. If I follow your blog, don't worry, I will continue to =)

Bridget Bag

I was approached months ago from a very supportive customer. She loved the Mascara bag (she already purchased 2) but she wanted something bigger and with round handles. It took me a while to get it together, but this year, I started a weekly "to-do" list. Bridgets bag was number one on that list. I sat down on Tuesday and drafted up a pattern. Wednesday I cut it out and sewed it together and Thursday I posted it on Facebook for her to see. Well let me tell you, she LOVED it! I posted it to my Facebook page and already had another person wanting it already. I have lots of work to do this weekend =)

I know she doesn't want me to sell her bag to anyone but her, BUT if you like it and want some jewelry to match check her site out. I think this would go real nice with this Bridget bag

All About Cranberry!

For the past 2 months I have been obsessed with cranberries. I have always loved cranberries and usually only ate them around the holidays (cranberry sauce anyone?), but my lovely husband showed me how easy it was to make homemade whole cranberry sauce. I couldn't believe it.. just water, sugar and cranberries!! I will soon be sad when the cranberry season is over. I think it's over now, but I have still found some cranberries in the grocery stores. Maybe I could use frozen berries in my sauce??

Anyhow, here is my small tribute to the cranberry.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Yes, I know I am little late with the New Years wishes, but I have been busy!

If you aren't a fan on Facebook, I suggest you become one!! I do more Facebook updating thatn I do my blog. One of my things to do this year is to do more with my blog, but just in case you miss something, click the link to the right to become a Facebook Fan!! ----->>

Anyhow, if you haven't been on it in a while, please feel free to check out my newly updated website. I decided to tackle Zen Cart during my holiday break and have learned a lot about reading .PHP coding. I was a bit disappointed that I could implement it on my already designed site, but I am digging the way it turned out with all my adjustments I made to the Zen template.

I have also been slowly adding my items to the store and also taking different photos of some of my items. Check out the Eco Chic Shoppers. I love the way they turned out. Especially the new Watermelon and Cherry ones :)

Custom Totes

These are a few custom pieces you won't find online... I created these 2 tote bags for a coworker. She was carrying around a tote that was given to her 2 years ago by the company we work for. Needless to say this company issued tote had the company logo screenprinted very largely on both sides. She loved the size of the bag, but wanted pockets and was tired of giving away free advertising. Anyhow, she came down today to gush about how happy she is with her purchase. The black and white one is the one that she's is sporting. The leopard print one was created for her cousin who loves animal prints. There is divided slip pockets along the back lining and there's a zippered pocket on the front. The strap is 27" long and it sits about 14" from the shoulder.

Bit Baubles and Buttons

I just have to share with everyone my recent purchase from a wonderful crafty lady. Her name is Bridget and she is a mom, blogger, sewer, knitter and jewelry artisan. Now if you know me, I'm not a big jewelry person but when I seen her "Amber Ring" I fell in love. I told my husband about it a few months ago. I am not sure if he thought I was joking or what, but I never did receive it for our anniversary.

Anyhow, over the weekend she had a Black Friday sale (much like most businesses online) and since I had one a contest that she was holding I got an extra percentage off! I jumped online and ordered this ring and some earrings for my daughter. Monday morning I got notification that this shipped so everyday I patiently waited for my ring to make it's long journey from Mississippi to Pennsylvania. Last night I ran home and ran down to the mail box with a big "Kook-Aid" smile on my face. I know my ring was here!!! I opened the package and there it was all wrapped up in blue tissue paper and bubble wrap. I loved her little sticker that held the tissue paper together (she's a graphic artist too)...So here are the photos.. Let's just say I am a very happy and satisfied customer.

Thanksgiving/Black Friday

Can you believe Thanksgiving is exactly 3 days away? I've already got my plans in place, and I'm very pleased that I will not be traveling as far this year, but only 30 minutes away to a cousin's place for dinner. My (large) family always does a potluck style dinner and I will be bringing something different this year. I offered to do a roast instead of ham, and I will be bringing green beans as well. I might feel up to making something for dessert, although I am not sure just yet.

I'm sure you have your Thanksgiving weekend plans already in place, and I am here to tell you that you can now include some shopping for handmade goodness in those plans! I am planning a Black Friday sale, which is actually going to start on Thanksgiving Day. That's not the only sweet deal going on at Myla's Bags this season. Check it:

Christmas Wish List

I am so feeling all these items right now. Even though I told my hubby not to get me anything (we are doing some heavy traveling up and down the East Coast), I know he is going to buy me something for Christmas. I hope he reads my blog...

Still in love after a month of online "window" shopping.

---------------------------------------------------

(I know what I said about grown women shopping in the jr dept.) I might make this...

---------------------------------------------------------
I met this lady @ a craft show a few months ago. She was a doll and her mother is hilarious! I traded some items with her for some soap and I fell in love!! This soap doesn't leave my skin dry and flaky and surprisingly there's no "ring around my tub".. I love that!!

Diva clutch

I am loving the new clutch. It's called the Diva clutch. It's 13 1/2 inches wide and 7 inches tall. It's a flat style clutch that can hold a nice amount. There is a snap closure on the inside (lining) to keep your belongings inside incase of a fall.

Sale Site

So I am cleaning out some bags and accessories from my website . I decided that it was time to revamp my ecrater store and create a site where I can place all my items that are on sale. Here you will find last year's styles and colors and sample items. I have only just started posting items on here so be on the look out for more items to be added soon.

I'd love to go to this event, but I am still debating on it. I have a show that day so I am unsure if I'll be up to the drive after a long day... I'll let you all know if I'll be in attendance though :)

Jillian Clutch

I decided to bring the Jillian clutch back. I asked my fans on FaceBook and they all were excited to see any new creations. After looking at fabric in my stash for a week or so, I decided that I needed to cut something out already!

I used Amy Butler fabric for the back and flap portion and a black cotton twill for the lower. There is an inner slit pocket inside and a silver buckle on the front.

I've carried this clutch in the past and one thing that I do love about it is the fact that it is adjustable. The buckle can be used as is, or if you are like me and love to cram lots of stuff in your small bag, you can let out the strap so you'll be able to easily close it once again.

Inspired

I was on Etsy early this morning looking for some new and interesting handbag handles. I came acroose a vendor who has beautiful handles. I loved this one in particular. I was thinking of making a large clutch and adding this as a closure. I've already started drafting some ideas and hopefully, I will purchase this and make something lovely!

The Rain Don't Last

While listening to Pandora Radio this weekend, this song came on a few times. I gave it a "thumbs up" and now it is played as one of my favorites. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did...

Lyrics compliments of Lets Sing It

Mmmm... Mmm... oohhmmm...
Could it be the world's gone colder?
Maybe, I'm a losing soul
The more I try it just gets harder
And my pain is getting old
Somebody said that nothing lasts forever
Just the storm so I've been told
But it seems that when it rains it pours

And you know the rain won't last forever
And you know the storm won't always flow
But if the sun don't shine forever
You gotta let it go

Sometimes my burdens get so heavy
And it seems too hard to bear
Sometimes I feel so empty
And it feels like no one's there
Somebody said that nothing lasts forever
Just the storm so I've been told
But it seems that when it rains it pours

And you know the rain won't last forever
And you know the storm won't always flow
But if the sun don't shine forever
You gotta let it go

And you gotta let it go...
And you gotta let it go...
Mmmm... Mmm... oohhmmm...
